UPDATE: 2009 NBA Mock Draft
With less than a week before the 2009 NBA draft, it seems that everybody is scouring the web looking for the latest information to update their mock drafts. We’re no different, except the fact that most of the info has lead us back with our original conclusions. That being said, there have been a few changes and will be more to come before Thursday night.

I know there is some good example of a bench warming, low-output big man coming in from college and developing well in the NBA, but I’m having trouble remembering who. I bet BJ Mullens can give me some good examples….At any rate, I don’t see Mullens going in the top 20.
Andrew, how about this 7-footer from Utah? Will he get some attention in the 2d round and ultimately get picked?

Yeah, Luke Neville has size and scoring ability inside, but he’s probably not much ore than an NBDL player. That’s not a knock on him, its just that his game won’t translate to the run-n-gun style most teams are currently constructed. Neville doesn’t have the speed or mobility to play in that type of system, and will therefore be a big gamble. But that’s what most second rounders are, so he may have a chance.

Does Chad Ford really think that Hansborough is going to drop to the Jazz? That’s seems unlikely to me. But I’ll go for anything to stop them from picking Sam Young (in the Quincy Lewis, Morris Almond mold), who I think is a weak prospect but a guy who the Jazz won’t be able to resist. When Chad Ford says, “The most NBA-ready player in the draft,” he’s insulting our intelligence. To be “NBA-ready”, you have to actually be ready to play in the NBA. I’d rather have Terrence Williams, whom you have available at #20.
The likely trying to fill a big need, like a big man or a swing player, but I think the value at #20 will be in a guy like Eric Maynor.

Poor Cleveland. The team that supposedly needs almost as much help as anyone is picking last in a weak draft…because they were the best team in basketball last year! I hope they do get the Green kid, though.
