Early Title Contenders For 2008
Posted by Andrew on June 15, 2007
Now that the NBA Finals are finally over (thank goodness!) TMB is ready to take a very quick look at next year’s top contenders to win it all. A lot of things have to be considered, including the draft, free agency, and trades, but none of those things are a major concern for the top teams in the league. Denver could be scary next year, as long as K-Mart is healthy and they add another player via free agency or the draft. That’s a lot to consider. Houston is still a legit third option and some frontcourt depth away, as we all saw during this years playoffs. Detroit realistically could lose Billups via free agency, despite what he’s telling the media, and that team seemed like it was its last hurrah anyway. Miami has to be worried about Shaq’s age, and Utah, despite possibly being a top five team, still has to go through the Western Conference, and perhaps the three best teams in the league, to even get to the NBA Finals. However, we will address this again in our 2007-08 NBA Preview at the end of September, once we have more information. Until then, he’s some good reading to hold you over for the summer.
